Wines from Comte Armand

Comte Armand

Winery Domaine Comte Armand is located in the village of Pommard, in the Côte de Beaune. Since 1826, the Armand family have been the owners of the Domaine des Epéneaux. This name is derived from Clos des Epéneaux, a plot of five hectares. Unfortunately, this plot has been replanted because it was infested with phylloxera. Despite the new plantings, this remarkable plot still produces high-quality grapes.

Currently, the winery has nine hectares in use. Comte Armand’s working method is aimed at expressing the terroir. For that reason, the focus is mainly on the vine and the soil. No herbicides and pesticides are used in the vineyard. The vitality of the soil is stimulated by planting specially selected crops and placing beehives

.

The planning of the basement is based on the biodynamic method, in which the position of the moon and the sun are taken into account. After the harvest by hand, the stems are removed from the grapes. A maceration of 5-8 days takes place prior to the alcoholic fermentation. The alcoholic fermentation starts spontaneously by means of natural yeasts. The wines are then aged in oak barrels. The duration and proportion of new wood depend on the appellation and the age of the vines. Comte Armand produces superb premier cru wines from the appellations Auxey-Duresses and Volnay.

Comte Armand is absolutely indispensable in the cellars of Burgundy lovers. Comte Armand's best vintages are: 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2009 and 2010.
