Aromas of rich berry fruit, cassis, vanilla pod and pencil shavings introduce the 2019 Lafleur-Gazin, a medium to full-bodied, ample wine with a ripe core of fruit and youthfully chewy structuring tannins. This is a hearty, rather rustic Pomerol that will work well at table.
Lovely blackberry, milk chocolate powder and black truffle on the nose. Full-bodied with firm and fine, chewy tannins that are polished and long. Persistent on the finish. This needs until at least 2027 to show you its seriousness.
The 2019 Lafleur-Gazin has turned out beautifully. There is an air of sophistication and poise that is impossible to miss. Red fruit, flowers, spice and blood orange all run through the 2019, lending tons of nuance and refinement. This elegant Pomerol will drink nicely with minimal cellaring. Tasted two times.
The 2019 Château Lafleur-Gazin showed nicely, with an elegant, seamless, classy style as well as textbook Pomerol notes of ripe red and black fruits, tobacco leaf, damp earth, and a hint of chocolate. Playing in the more elegant, seamless side of the spectrum, it still has solid mid-palate depth and outstanding length. It will drink nicely for at least 15 years.
